Belgian M 1882 Musician's side arm. Serial number: 8 on the back of the pommel. Excellent bright finished T-shape blade with an official blunted tip. German makers name and trademark: ALEX.COPPEL - Pair of scales - SOLINGEN in three lines crisp on the ricasso. Very good bright polished steel pommel with no mortise slot, nor lock, nor press catch making this a side arm. Pommel is marked on the back side: Musician's Lyre over A I over 8. Crossguard with no muzzle ring and a forward swept quillon, crisp marked with an inspection marking on the finial. Hilt shows light surface pitting and stains. Very good wooden grips, fixed to the blade tang by two steel rivets. The wood grips are showing light abuse.
Very good and correct black painted steel scabbard with a small olive shaped frog stud. There is some pitting around the frog stud bot no dents. Round finial.
A very rare bayonet/side arm with the tip official blunted. Seldom encountered.
