WZ98 rifle and WZ29 Mauser type carbine. Serial nummer: 19966 on the ricasso. Very good bright finished fullered blade with the Polish makers name and S in a box - “PERKUN″ on the ricasso. Blade shows some field sharpening spurs only. The reverse side shows the Polish Eagle over W.P.(= Woisko Polski = Polish Army) The heavy pommel with a T-O mortise slot is crisp marked: WZ. 24 (=Wzor 1924=Model 1924). A large riveted crossguard, without muzzle ring, is unit marked: 1450 V and there is a S in circle on the top of the crossguard. Hilt with flash guard. Guard with some user spurs. Excellent wooden grips, fixed to the blade tang by scrfew bolts and not by rivets. Oil cleaning hole in grips.
Excellent and correct black over green painted Polish scabbard with serial number: 114300 on the reverse side and a Polish inspection marking: S in a box on the front side near the throat of the scabbard. No dents.
Comes with its Excellent altered dark brown leather Dutch M 1895 infantry bayonet belt frog with a hilt retaining strap as found. (AC 364) This frog is normally an integrated part of the leather M 1895 scabbard! It is shortened and there is a cut out made for the frog stud of the scabbard. It is marked: 1 X 14 and 426 on the reverse side. A very interesting belt frog alteration and combination.
Hard to find Polish bayonet model, WZ 24 and unit marked. Rare frog!
