German KS98 bayonet, WWII, D.R.P. marked by Paul Weyersberg-Solingen. (ABCN 218) (K 47)

Mauser M 84/98 carbine. Serial number: 1074 on ricasso. Superb fullered plated 25 cm. blade. German maker's name: PAUL WEYERSBERG & Co. - SOLINGEN in three rows in an oval on the ricasso. Reverse ricasso is marked with a serial number and D.R.P. (= Deutsche Reichspost Schutz ). Leather washer intact. Excellent plated pommel and crossguard with a back swept quillon with some minor wear of the plating of the left pommel side only. No German inspection markings on the pommel. There are rest of green felt in the mortise slot. Excellent black plastic checkered grips secured to the blade by two steel rivets.
Excellent and correct black painted steel scabbard with no markings nor dents.
Comes with its Excellent + and extremely rare belt frog as found, made from impressed red/brown leather, with a fine outer finish of pigskin with a single punched central alloy rivet in the back.(Ref. Roy Williams M/W "A collectors guide to German bayonet belt frogs", Page 255  )

These early and very rare plated Reichs Post bayonets were issued to the German Postschutz and were not privately purchased. Hence a serial number.
