German M 1884/98 bayonet, first model by ALEX.COPPEL. Unit marked (ABCN445-1)(K139)(JN81-1)
Mauser M1871, 1871/84, 1888, 1898 rifle. Very good bright finished blade with short fuller. Blade with light field scratches. German maker's name ALEX. COPPEL - SOLINGEN in two lines on ricasso. Prussian Crown over W 88 and inspection mark on blade spine. M 98 pommel type with T-O Slot and with two German inspection markings. Very good hump back style grip with wooden grips and an oil hole, attached to the blade tang by two screw bolts. Bade tang shows three more inspection markings. Bright finished pommel and crossguard with no muzzle ring. Crossguard is regimental marked 240. R. 6. 159 (= 240e reserve Regiment, 6th Batallion, rifle number 159 )
Very good black leather scabbard with all stitches intact and bright finished metal fittings. Top mount is regimental marked 36. R. 2. 3. (= No. 36 Fusilier Regiment, General-Feldmarschall Graf Blumenthal. Home base Halle, Second Batallion, rifle number 3) Fittings show German inspection markings on the top mount, chape and the throat.
