Description

Scottish 1865 Pattern Highland Infantry Officers broadsword. Beautiful etched double fullered bright finished straight blade. Different deep etched on both sides with floral motives, a crest shield on the one side and the Royal Cypher of Queen Victoria (VR) on the reverse side. Both ricasso show the Star of David, the left one with a brass inlay in a circle, marked: Proved over T. Intact leather washer. Excellent very complex bright finished (not plated!) steel basket hilt with heart symboles and round hilt bars. Excellent buff leather hilt lining with a scarlet covering, blue silk edging and red/blue tassels on the bun type detachable pommel. Excellent skin covered round grip with an intact brass/silver twisted wire winding. The liner is somewhat discoulered over time and shows some light wear but no damage. 
Excellent bright polished 1834 Pattern straight steel scabbard with two loose hanging rings and a ball chape. No dents to the scabbard.

Very nice proved example, made between 1837 and 1901 (Victorian era)
