Swedish M 1903 naval boarding cutlass. Serial number: 172 on quillon finial. Superb bright finished fullered yataghan blade, marked: G.B.(= Inspection officer C.G. Breitholtz) and TLN (= Armourer Teodor Ludvig Norlander) on the ricasso and Swedish maker trade mark: Crown over E over anchor mark (= Eskilstuna) on the reverse side. Excellent brass pommel with a lanyard cord opening. Mortise slot is filled with a massive block of brass and the push button is filed flush. This is very well done. Excellent brass crossguard with cock comb on muzzle ring: MRD 18.9 mm. Quillon with finial. Finial is unit marked: Swedish Crown over V.K.A.R. 172 (= Vaxholm Coastal Artillery Regiment. Rifle number 172). Excellent wooden grips secured to the blade tang by 3 small steel pins. Short external spring.
Excellent brown leather scabbard with clear tooling, brass throat, brass belt loop and a brass internal chape. Throat is unit marked Swedish Crown over V.K.A.R. 528

A very rare Swedish converted M 1867 Remington sword bayonet. Only 4.200 Remington bayonets were ever produced. This particular one was made in 1870. In that year only 1.000 were made). Out of 4.200, 400 were converted to fit the M 1894 Swedish Navy carbine. According to Perr Holmbäck, the bayonet expert from Sweden, out of 3.800 bayonets an unknown but very small number was converted to naval and coastal artillery boarding cutlasses in 1903, These were in use till 1950.
