French M 1890 Gendarmerie carbine bayonet/ M 1902 Indochina rifle bayonet (ABCN1409-1)(K1027)(JN0)
Mannlicher Berthier M 1890 Gendarmerie carbine. Serial number A 14069 on quillon. (Hard to read!) Very good long bright cruciform blade marked with two faint French markings on the ricasso and stains all over. Ricasso and tip of the blade with some light pitting. Very nice silver alloy grip with mortise slot and press stud to the left side of the top of the pommel and long concave groove on the left side of the grip. Bright crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 13 mm. and forward swept quillon. Final of the quillon is marked C. Excellent blued Lebel type scabbard with no serial number and no dents.
It comes with a genuine and rare M 1890 bayonet frog (AC 241) in an Excellent condition.
Total length 635 mm. Blade length 520 mm.
The M 1890 Gendarmerie bayonet was adopted in 1894. Exactly the same bayonet, but completely unmarked and the blade often shortened to 400 mm, was called the "M 1902 Indochina". This bayonet was also delivered in a small number to Persia on a contract.
