Dutch light Cavalry (LC) troopers sword M 1813, No. 2. (JP75-110 )
Nederlands Sabel der Lichte Cavalerie, M1813, No.2. / Dutch Light Cavalry troopers (LC) sword M 1813, No.2. Superb heavy curved fullered blade. Leather washer intact. Blade spine is marked with a very small Dutch inspection crown. Steel hilt with hand guard and 2 side bars and steel pommel. Side bar is marked with a Dutch inspection marking: Crown over V. (=Inspector van Deventer) and a Batallion number: 257 on the reverse side. Crossguard with langets on both sides. Excellent++ wooden troopers grip, covered with black horse leather.
Excellent all steel scabbard with two loose hanging rings with another Regiment number: 349 and a canceled number: B over 4 (= 4th Battalion B company) on the back of the scabbard. The drag is maker marked with a K. (=Possibly Schnitzler & Kirschbaum- Solingen) No dents to the scabbard.
Length of the sword ca.100 cm. Width at the ricasso 3,4 cm. Weight, including scabbard: Ca. 2,1 Kg.!
A very heavy and rare Dutch Napoleonic time frame sword in an Excellent+ condition. Only 2.000 examples were ever made!
A Dutch Quatre-Bras and Waterloo battle field piece, used by Dutch Light Cavalry and mounted Artillery troops!
Later is was used during in 1830 during the Belgian conflict.
Provenance: This sword once belonged to the collection of the first Dutch Army museum: Legermuseum - Doorwerth and later Legermuseum - Leiden, The Netherlands. It still has its Provenance label attached. The sword still has an inventory number in a non-permanent blue ink on the blade: EG 320
