English No.7 MkI bayonet, red gripped by Elkington & co. Ltd. (ABCN189)(K44)(JN62-3)

British .303 Enfield no4 rifle, MP Sten Mk V. Minty bright finished fullered Bowie style blade with the first 0,5 cm blackened and crisp marked: No7. MK1/L  on the ricasso and  /I\ over M/78 (= dispersal code of Elkington: M/78) on the reverse side. 
Minty parkerized swivel pommel and crossguard with a muzzle ring. MRD 22,5 mm. Pommel is also crisp marked: M/78. A Broad arrow /I\ on the locking system. Minty red Paxolin (Tufnel) grips secureds to the blade tang by screws. 
Minty No.5 MK I  blackened scabbard. /I\ marked. No dents.
Comes with a Minty and genuine green webbing P37 bayonet frog with a retaining strap as found.

Hard to find in this outstanding condition!

Minty No.7 MkI bayonet by a scarce maker: Elkington & co Ltd. of Birmingham only made 20.000 No.7 bayonets.!
The No.7 MK1 bayonet was Introduced in 1946 and later issued to the Guard Regiments and used during parades.
