French M 1840 Thierry carbine. Serial number: 909 on the crossguard. Excellent fullered bright finished yataghan blade with some small solo pits only. The French arsenal marking: Mutzig crisp on the ricasso. Two crisp French inspection markings: Crown over S in a shield and S in a shield on the other ricasso. Excellent solid one piece brass grip/crossguard  with an excellent straight screwed on blued external spring and a T-slot in the pommel. Pommel shows another number: 13. Excellent brass crossguard with a strong curved guillon. Large muzzle ring with a notch inside. MRD: 24 mm. Two crisp French inspection markings: Star over B in a circle and a S in shield on the crossguard and C in a shield on the reverse side. There is a B in circle facing the blade..
Excellent- bright finished steel scabbard with user spurs, no serieus dents. Very fine stains near the tip only. An extra rivet on the spine of the scabbard keeps the internal throat spring in position. Serial number: 935.

Extremely rare well marked French bayonet. Only issued to NCO's of Jaeger Regiments.
