German M 1914 bayonet, type I by PIEPER-BAYARD (ABC N 594) (JN 88-1)(K 213)
Mauser M98 rifle. Excellent+ bright finished blade with square fuller ends and a crisp Belgium maker's logo: Mounted knight over BAYARD (= PIEPER-Liège-Belgium) on the ricasso. Crisp German inspection mark on the blade spine. Very nice graying bright finished pommel and crossguard. Pommel with two German (Gothic) inspection markings. Excellent wooden grips secured to the tang by screw bolts. No flash guard. Oil hole in the grips.
Excellent- and correct blackened tooled ersatz scabbard with some small indentations near the tip on one side only.
Quite a rare Belgian made German M 1914 bayonet.
